Energy: GPiLEARN Web-Based Training (WBT)
Excelsior College
GP has partnered with
Excelsior College
to assign college credit for completion of our online power generation courses.
After a comprehensive evaluation process, Excelsior College determined that a number
of our GPiLEARN online courses met the college’s criteria for college-level
learning. When you successfully complete the required GP courses and exams, you’ll
earn 25 credits toward an Excelsior College degree program.
See what degrees you can earn by taking GPiLEARN courses.
Currently, the following self-paced distance programs are available through Excelsior
College in conjunction with GPiLEARN:
- Associate in Applied Science in Technical Studies with a Power Plant Technology
or Electromechanical Technologies specialty (AAT)
- Associate in Science in Technology with a Power Plant Technology or Electromechanical,
Electronic, and/or Mechanical Technologies specialty (AST)
- Bachelor of Science in Technology with a Power Plant Technology or Electromechanical,
Electronic, and/or Mechanical Technologies specialty (BST)
The following chart shows which GPiLEARN courses power generation facility employees
can apply toward meeting Excelsior College’s degree requirements:

Apply credits from other institutions to your degree.
GPiLEARN users may complete their degrees with many credit sources, including Excelsior
College courses, credits previously earned at other regionally accredited institutions,
through military and corporate training, and through college-level proficiency exams,
such as Excelsior College examinations.
Information on guidelines and submitting records for Excelsior College is available
on our technical support web site.
“Since leaving the Navy, I wanted to complete a degree, but the demands of
working shift work and raising a family prevented me from attending a traditional
college. The partnership between GP and Excelsior allowed me to complete my degree
while working rotating 12-hour shifts with limited impact to my family. The combination
of credit from GP lessons and Navy courses met all of my technical course requirements,
leaving only the general education courses to earn my degree. Excelsior’s
course structure allowed me to work when it was convenient for me, through night
shifts and around outages and I could still interact with the instructor and other
people in the class. In August of 2007 I received an A.S. degree from Excelsior
College.”
